Khary Rigg completed his M.Ed. (emotional/behavioral disorders) and Ph.D. (medical sociology) degrees from the University of Miami. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in health services research at the University of Pennsylvania /Philadelphia VA Medical Center. Dr. Rigg’s research intersects the fields of behavioral health, medicine, and public health, and focuses mostly on the use/misuse of prescription medications such as stimulants, pain medications, and sedatives. He is currently on the editorial boards of Substance Use & Misuse, Journal of Drug Issues, and Psychology of Addictive Behaviors, and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Psychoactive Drugs, Prevention Science, and Journal of Community Psychology. He has recently become interested in prescription medication use/misuse among individuals on the autism spectrum and coping strategies used by families of children with autism.
